Be Thankful

I don't know how many days it's been now since we have been in quarantine. I've lost count. I know it's been way over a month since I have been around anyone but my son. These are indeed unprecedented times. I'll be honest, l really didn't see this coming. When I was preparing for this, I was thinking like 2 to 3 weeks. Never did I imagine that it would be this long, with no real end in sight.

I celebrated a birthday in quarantine. April 3rd was the day and I made the best out of it. I did an impromptu photo shoot. I was so excited in this picture because I could fit this dress from my 35th birthday LOL. That birthday was a few years ago!! My family even threw me a zoom birthday party which was so much fun. Every day is different. Some days I wake up motivated and ready to be productive. Some days I wake up and I feel very anxious and it takes a while to shake it off. Some days I wake up sad wondering when this will all be over. However, everyday I wake up grateful to be kept by God during these trying times.

It is so easy to just think about the bad and sulk in discontentment. However, that will not change anything and won't help you. During this time, you have to be INTENTIONAL about creating joy in your life and in your space. None of us have ever experienced anything like this. It will take everything in you and all of your faith to make it through but you can do it.

Throw away the rule book, have a talk with God and tell him what you need from him to make it. Maybe you need more peace in your space. Ask for it. Maybe you need more motivation. Ask for it. Maybe you need to smile more. Ask for it. Now is not the time to be shy. Work to create a joyful space in your life at this moment. The first way to do that is to look at all you have to be thankful for right now. Take some time to dwell on your blessings and watch your joy begin to grow. Your family and friends will wonder how are you so joyful in the midst of a pandemic and your reply will be: Because God is still good. What are you thankful for today?
